The polluted enviroment that most of us now live in has a powerful and negative effect on our nutritional health. We have massive pollution in the atmosphere, the seas, the soil, and in our water. Modern farming methods and food processing has severely damaged the quality and quantity of nutrients available.

This affects us through our food, often without us being aware. Our immune system is becoming compromised which can and does upset the fine chemical balances within the body, ultimately leading to ill health.

• Natt Scan addresses the cause of many health problems by identifying deficiencies and potentially offending foods and other substances in the body. Once identified, suitable treatment is recommended.
• We often crave the same foods day in and day out. If you eat the same foods too regulary, you can become sensitive to those very foods, also referred to as food intolerances.

Food intolerance can also have a direct effect on the absorption of nutrients, digestive function and weight management.

What is an allergic reaction?

An allergic reaction is a vital response by the body's immune system to a substance that is not normally harmful (allergen). When the allergens attack the body of an allergic person, the body produces antibodies to help defend it, which are designed to neutralise the allergen. It is the reaction between the allergen and the antibodies that then produces the symptoms of an allergic reaction. The main symptoms are usually severe and happen immediately after the food is eaten, including swollen lips, watery eyes, nasal congestion, wheezing, itching, headaches, skin rashes, convulsions and in extreme cases anaphylatic shock.

What are vitamin and mineral deficiencies?

Vitamin or mineral deficiencies do not always manifest themselves as major health problems, since most of us are not severely deficient in any single nutrient. However, marginal deficiencies are very common, and are likely to be responsible for many minor overlooked symptoms, such as headaches, skin complaints and other niggling health problems such as fatigue, susceptibility to infections, and digestive problems.

Minor problems, left untreated, can become more serious, which is why it is important to deal with any nutritional imbalances or small deficiencies as soon as possible.

What we do

Natt Scan test the body as standard for 100 food sensitivities. We also test for vitamin and mineral deficiencies, allergies and additives (E-numbers) Bach Flower Remedies, and a common and often overlooked condition in both men and women - Candidiasis (yeast overgrowth). Candidiasis can cause a wide range of symptoms including bloating, irritable bowel syndrome, thrush and headaches.

A desensitisation treatment is also available which can modify the clients reaction to the offending food or substance so it can be comfortably re-introduced.

If you belive any particular substance affects you (i.e. an allergen, such as tree pollen), we can test and treat for it however obscure, providing we get a sample.

What does the test involve?

Your appointment will last about an hour. You will be required to answer a brief questionnaire before the test.

The test is based on the body's energetic responses to food and other various substances. We do not use needles. You simply hold an 'electrode' in one hand and then a point on your finger is touched with a non invasive stylus, which measures your bodies resistance to each substance that is introduced into the process. This measurement indicates whether or not your body has a problem with that particular substance.

If we do find that you have a problem you will be provided with a list of the results. We will then advise you on an appropriate course of treatment along with nutritional information.

Will it hurt?

As we do not use needles the method is non-invasive and there is very little or no discomfort during testing or treatment. The application is extremely 'trouble free' and is therefore suitable for children. There are no side effects.
